Wood Store Plume

It seems that my new wood store might produce the occasional moth for me, this one flew out and landed on the wall close by.  Fortunately it stayed put long enough for me to fetch the camera.

I believe that it's a Beautiful Plume (Amblyptilia acanthadactyla)

  1. Hi Chris, you have the right common name but the wrong scientific name - this is Amblyptilia acanthadactyla rather than its more drably-coloured relation.

  2. Thank you for pointing out the error George, very careless of me, yet another 'senior moment'. I have applied the correction!

  3. Thanks Chris. It generally seems to be much the commoner of the two in gardens...I usually see punctidactyla in more natural habitats (esp. wet heath/bogs with Cross-leaved Heath).

  5. This is an insect of wood when it is created, He starts to eat wood, at last, the wood is completely damaged
