Plenty of caterpillars on my many mullein plants. Looking at Ian's post on the 30th June and the recommended guide I think this is my first Eudonia delunella.
A nice surprise whilst hand pulling bracken yesterday were these two caterpillars on bramble just a foot or so part, which I think may be the Emperor?
I`d agree with your dets Sally.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a lovely surprise for you, Jane, coming across Emperor Moth larvae. I haven't seen one since I was at school and purchased some larvae from a guy called L. Hugh Newman, who had a butterfly farm in Kent. That was in the 1950s! I've caught a female EM here once, a few years ago, but sadly she didn't lay any eggs for me and I let her go on Mynedd Llanllwni.
