Mines on birch
Now is a good time to look for the gallery-then-blotch mines of Ectoedemia minimella on birch. These were at Median Farm today.
The rush pasture at the site was looking fantastic, with the best display of Whorled Caraway I've ever seen.
An early Marsh Fritillary web was found on a brief search.
Interesting re the mine, George. I`ll have to look for that one. It`s a pity that the scientific name of Carum is changing to whatever it is, as Carum is close to Carms, for which it is the `county plant`.
