I`m stuck!...
Any suggestions for this one please? Caught in my garden trap on Saturday night (1/6). Its face is black and size is just over 0.75 cm. Thanks.
I am useless at Tortricids, but it looks ever so much like the photo of Spilonota laricana on page 148 of CMM's 2nd Edition. Have you got larch nearby?
Thanks Steve. I`m really glad that you said that species, as it`s on my shortlist but I`ve been caught out by suggesting that one before. With luck others may give an opinion.
I`ve also now remembered (after reading up about it) that the issue I had before (back in 2017) re laricana was that it really needs dissection to differentiate from the commoner ocellana, even though my (since released) specimen looks like the latter.

ReplyDeleteYes I think it will have to go down as ocellana/laricana.
ReplyDeleteThanks George - I suspected so!
