Cnwc Garden
Bea and I found three exciting new species in the Cnwc garden this afternoon: first was two Small Heath fighting over the acid grassland that is the back ‘lawn’, then even better a Green Hairstreak nectaring on Cotoneaster, and finally a stunning little Bombylius canescens Bee-fly. Despite looking at insects here for 12 years, new species keep appearing.

B. canescens is an old friend of my 1980s days on rhos pastures etc and something that I had n`t seen for years until one turned up on a bare bank at Pwll last year. A nice farewell present.
ReplyDeleteI`ve never seen the spotted job though, which I know that you`ve seen at Dingestow.
