Quick Snippets...

I mentioned Jane Hand in the context of my brindled green record in my preceding blog, a species that she has also recently recorded at Rhandirmwyn. Jane has been trapping fairly frequently this year and she regularly sends me photos for confirmation. I expect that we can anticipate some further interesting records from Jane as the season progresses (eg the late autumn sprawler, which has been recorded in the past from Rhandirmwyn) and many more good records next year. Well done Jane.
Another new and very keen enthusiast who is deserving of `top marks` is Adam Dare at Burry Port who regularly traps and is a very quick learner indeed when it comes to moths! He is making some good records at his garden trap site with, for example, his first large ranunculus last week. Keep up the good work.
Finally, last Sunday (4/9) Paul Sperinck made an excellent non-moth record in the form of a hornet (which he photographed) at Stradey Woods, Llanelli confirming their presence in the south-east of the county.

  1. Jane could be well placed to catch Autumn Green Carpet at Rhandirmwyn - there were several Rothamsted records from that area some years ago, I believe, although these were unverified at the time.
