My first macro-moth of the year was rather a nice one - a Grey Shoulder-knot on the wall of Llanllwni Community Hall at Maesygrugiau (SN472410), only 100m from the Ceredigion border.

We were there enjoying our lunchbreak during Brown Hairstreak egg surveys on Wednesday. There was lots of cobebbing around the outside lights suggesting they were left on at night, but no other moths could be located. Nearby were a couple of stoneflies and a chrysomelid beetle awaiting ID.

Sorry for terrible camera phone photo!

  1. Don`t worry about the photo quality - it`s a good record George! I MAY try a trap somewhere IF the wind abates this week.
