.....and it's good night from him (as Ronnie Barker used to say).

223 moths of 63 species visited the MV trap at Cwmllwyd last night, so it really was a good night. Among these were 16 FFY. I've not seen Argyresthia goedartella before, so this was a highlight for me:

Argyresthia goedartella

Other FFY included:

 Brussels Lace

 Four-dotted Footman (x3)

Sandy Carpet
and Common Emerald - rather uncommon up here.

Others species in good numbers included Double Line x7 (20 seen here this year), Garden Tiger x4, Barred Straw x11, Light Emerald x10 and micros Barred Fruit-tree Tortrix x8 and Udea olivalis x11.

  1. Excellent Steve. I had my garden traps out on Thurs night (9/7) but mostly the usual stuff, though I have moths in the fridge awaiting `processing`. A moth trapping foray up a cwm was a disaster ( took me an hour to get through brambles, non-functioning trap etc!). Had day out in the field yesterday (Fri) - plenty of `bread-and-butter` records but nothing as exciting as Sam`s wood tiger. Did n`t trap last night - far too tired!
