My front door....

My front door regularly attracts some good invertebrates (including moths), presumably because it is sheltered from the sun/prevailing wind/rain....and, of course, I notice them as I enter the house.
A nice surprise today was the lesser thorn-tipped longhorn Pogonocherus hispidus, an uncommonly-recorded little longhorn, of which a photo (not of the high standard of other blog posters such as George!) is shown below - you`ll have to click on it to enlarge the photo.
I`ll be giving the home moth traps a go tonight, to see what turns up and, hopefully, I`ll have a moth or two to blog about.

  1. Very nice...I've never seen that species.

  2. There`s a very similar species (and with a similar name - hispidulus) but they`re quite easy to tell apart.
