Daytime records

Glad to see that Steve had some moth success at Cwmllwyd - I`ve not trapped recently, as the nights looked too cool/clear/windy, but I have been out and about in daytime. The orange underwings have reappeared over the young birches at Cencoed-uchaf, having been `held back` by the relatively cold and grey weather of recent weeks. The current sunny and warm spell (which is forecasted to continue and improve this week) makes this perfect weather, at the ideal time, to search the tops of your local birches for orange underwings.
The first bee-fly Bombylius major of this spring was in the garden yesterday (4/4) and various shieldbugs and the green tiger beetle are also all out.

Postscript: had a male brimstone and a holly blue in the lane in front of my house this afternoon and Paul Sperinck also reports brimstones from elsewhere around Llanelli and a comma.
