I'm glad I trapped in the barn entrance last night because of the early morning rain and strong winds. No migrants arrived, but 18 species was an OK total for early April. Highlights were 3 White-marked (photo with a Red Chestnut), which is Nationally Notable and something of a mid-Carms speciality, and 1 Frosted Green (photo).
A really useful `comparison photo` re red chestnut and white-marked Sam.
ReplyDeleteOooh nice, and not very white marked! A species I've never seen - we've only one Glam record since 1928.
ReplyDeleteThe other two were whiter marked, but one wouldn't sit still and the other had lost all the scales from its wingtips because of a puddle in the bottom of the trap.
