Bright-line Brown-eye
Caught in the house this evening - very out of season according to my ID book?
Might have pupated in plant pot soil, if you brought any pots indoors over the winter.
I had a Drinker moth larva and a Magpie moth pupal exuviae on Blackthorn while doing Brown Hairstreak egg surveys in north Carms yesterday. The Magpie must be one of the few species that can be identified from the pupa, which is quite spectacular. See: http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=1209
Moth of the year so far, Sally - well done!
ReplyDeleteProbably grew up in a greenhouse. Great record!
ReplyDeleteThat might be the first Carms 2015 record! If the nights get warmer, it`ll be worth trapping for early species soon, though don`t expect a deluge!
