Gelli Aur today....
Many thanks to all of you who attended our field meeting to look at leaf mines today at Gelli Aur, and our gratitude is also offered to Mike Smith and the owners of Gelli Aur for allowing us to visit. It was nice to see a high percentage of the Carmarthenshire Moth Group present and to be able to put `faces to names` for one or two new members. Several other members would have liked to attend but were unavoidably busy elsewhere and they kindly sent their apologies.
As always, we all offer our special thanks to Sam Bosanquet for leading our informal `moth jolly` and for instructing us on how to record leaf mines and other helpful hints. I`m also sure that some useful `10km square-filling` records were made.
The photo above of the mansion at Gelli Aur was actually taken in the early summer - hence the daisies on the lawn - in case anyone was thinking how green and sunny it looks!
There`s still life left in the 2014 moth recording season, so please do trap on appropriate nights.
