A reminder that the Carmarthenshire Moth Group will have its annual `get together` at Gelli Aur this Saturday, commencing at 2.00pm; it will be an informal event. We shall meet in the car park (photo above) of the Country Park (which ceased to be a Carmarthenshire County Council-run park some time ago), by the kind invitation of the owners and the Voluntary Ranger, Michael Smith.
Our intention is to have a casual walk around the arboretum and the grounds, guided by Mike Smith and with some instruction by Sam Bosanquet on recording leaf-mines and daytime sampling techniques (sweeping, beating etc). The weather forecast is currently quite bright and sunny, but it will be more chilly than of late - bring warm, waterproof clothing, just in case! Normal walking boots (rather than wellington boots) should suffice.
The grid reference of Gelli Aur car park (DO NOT confuse it with Gelli Aur Agricultural College down the road!) is SN595137 - take the minor road southwards and upslope from the southern Tywi Valley road (B4300) or the same minor road northwards from the A476 (Cross Hands to Llandeilo road). The turning for Gelli Aur is located in Golden Grove village, up the road from the church.
We hope to see you there! Anyone who is interested in recording moths in Carmarthenshire is very welcome to attend.
