I was picking a bunch of flowers to brighten up the house for my Mother-in-law who is arriving this evening, and headed down to our small patch of herbs to get some flowering mint, marjoram etc. I was amazed to find 5 Micros of 4 species nectaring on the flowering Tansy at 5:30pm - 2 Argyresthia bonnetella, 1 Bryotropha terella, 1 Mompha divisella and 1 Ypsolopha parenthesella (photo below). I'll check whether it is similarly good after dark...
Nice! There`s loads of tansy at some sites around Llanelli - I must check. I used to also grow it in my garden, but had a blitz on removing 99% of it last year!
ReplyDeleteI checked an hour later and there were additional single parenthesella, terella and an Argyresthia albistria. 8 Micros on a small patch of flowers. No Macros on there.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I have some in the garden which I must go and check...
