So far the tally for the night is 75 moths of 48 species, but one or two more micros might be added once the photos have been properly photographed. First record for the location of
Catoptria margaritella (not alone here, I believe). FFYs were Light Arches, Gold Spangle, Brown Rustic, Minor Shoulder-knot, Dot Moth, Drinker - a bit surprising since mature larvae were seen in the garden only 3 days previously - and
Lozotaenia forsterana x3.
Hedya pruniana or H. nubiferana?
I'll add my C. margaritella to the collection!
The impressively large Lozotaenia forsterana
Finally, a clutch of eggs appeared on the door of my woodshed a few days ago. I'm assuming that they came from a Double Dart moth which was resting a few inches away.
That's nubiferana as the black dot sits costa-side of the kink in the outer edge of the dark area. It's a shame we can't annotate photos on the blog. Maybe you can email it to me, then I can put some arrows/rings on and repost it.
ReplyDeleteI shall send you the photo Sam, I think it's important to know the difference because both species are likely to turn up.
