Llansteffan Moths
Some more moths I need help with, these was caught 25/6 at my other site. As usual many thanks.
No books here, but I think the first is Sickly Wainscot, the second is a metallic Coleophora and will be easy with MBGBI, there also two unidfntifiable Coleophora and an orange micro that we should be able to name with a bit of thought (any more photos of the orange one?)
Just seen the photo...I think it is Calamatropha, a species that I had a few times last year. However, Mel`s find is a good record - the first away from SE Carms, so well done.
Thanks Ian. The green Coleophora is C deauratella, found on Red Clover.
How big is the little orange jobby? I'm pondering Elachista vs Mompha. It looks from the photos (assuming the same leaf) to be smaller than the Coleophora spp, which suggests Elachista.

ReplyDeleteI'll add more photo's but the first has long palps so I'll stick another of that in, I thought Calamotropha paludella?
ReplyDeleteGood point! I'll check Calamatropha at home too...
