The tension rises...
Getting in a bit of practice before the Big (National Moth) Night(s)... last night at Carmel produced plenty of July highflier (23) and, with the yellow underwing tribe battling for second place, a dead heat between large y/u and lesser broad-bordered y/u (15 each). A least yellow underwing was first for year, as was dun-bar, six-striped rustic and copper underwing (not Svensson's - thanks for the recent useful blogtip, Ian). Again, just a couple of silver Y in the trap - with small numbers seen today on woodland rides near Cwrt y cadno, yesterday at Llansteffan and Carmel NNR over the weekend. A handful of red admiral, peacock and small tortoiseshell on buddleia and privet blossom in the garden today.
