Julian Friese and I have just spent nearly an hour at the Three Horseshoes Quarry, waiting for a silver-washed Fritillary to land for long enough to take a photo of it. In all there were at least 4 fluttering about in the sunshine, but with so many Ringlets, Meadow Browns and Whites fluttering about as well there seemed to be no peace for anybody.
Later we saw another lone Silver-washed Fritillary alongside the River Cothi just below Brechfa.
