A Bee Nuisance!

Nothing startling happened at the trap last night, plenty of moths, but none that I haven't had regularly before.  The only notable find in the past few days has been a Thistle Ermine in Tuesday night's trap, in the Book as common but I've not seen one before.

A non-moth but nonetheless interesting development here has been the arrival of leaf-cutter bees who have decided to make a nest in our back door.  The door's of bog-standard PVC construction with two glass panes separated by a cross-bar, and it is in this bar that the bees are nesting, gaining access through the drainage hole in the underside.  The door is our usual entrance/exit point, so we are having to time its use with the arrival/departure of the bees!

  1. Looks like a `leaf-cutter bee` Megachile sp.
