Mothing away from home

Re-started (at long last!) my `away-from-home` trapping. Put two traps out overnight, at Morfa-uchaf (Ferryside) and immediately west of Glan yr Afon LNR, Kidwelly, and went to collect at 5.00am this morning.  Both sites abutted saltmarsh, the former on a small area of dune grassland scrub. Conditions for trapping were fair only...a bit windy etc and results were a bit disappointing, comprising mostly common moths rather than habitat specialists. Nevertheless, both sites have potential and I will persevere; I`ve also got some other new trapping sites lined up for the remainder of this season. Last night had 8 dusky brocades at Morfa-uchaf (one looking like a crescent striped, but it was n`t - alas!; photo of three individuals below), whilst at Glan yr Afon I had Brussels lace, oblique carpet and a gold spot. The latter -in some ways- looks like a Lempke`s gold spot (see below)....any comments please?

  1. Looking at it again, it now looks more like a gold spot!
